Hello everyone,
 
Tomorrow, Tuesday evening, at 7PM (September 25), as part of the Ottawa
Peace Festival, NoWar-Paix is holding a forum on the following topic:
The War in Afghanistan: Does Support The Troops=Support The War? It will
take place at the PSAC Building, 233 Gilmour St. (between Metcalfe and
Elgin).
 
Chris Jones of the Canadian Peace Alliance will be speaking about the
well-funded military establishment campaign to support the war, which is
championed by Rick Hillier.
 
Terry Stavnyck will be giving a presentation on his recent experiences
in protesting the war in Afghanistan, notably asking for withdrawal from
Afghanistan, and how certain Ottawa Police officers have reacted to his
efforts. Very interesting in light of the recent campaign to put Support
Our Troops decals on police cars and city vehicles.
 
I will be raising the issue of how racially visible communities may be
coping with this issue.
 
I will moderate the ensuing discussion, which will be open to the
public. About 45 minutes of presentation, 1 hour of discussion.
 
The presentation will be in English.
